The new entrant in the biking world and young player in the scooter segment, Mahindra 2 Wheelers, registered increased sales in both the products, i.e., scooters and motorcycles, in November 2010.

The company reported sales of 15,854 units in November 2010, which is 125 percent higher than the same period sales, 7020, last year. The contribution of Mahindra Bikes accounts for 1706 units only; the automaker launched a commuter bike called Mahindra Stallio a few months ago, and the bike sales figures tell the story of its initial success.

Total cumulative sales from April to November 2010 stood at 107,888 units, as compared to 29,778 units for the same period last year, an increase of 262%.

President Mahindra Two Wheeler and Member of the Group Executive Board Anoop Mathur said in a statement released to the media that the Indian buyers have shown their faith in the Mahindra Two Wheeler products, and the same can be noticed in the recent monthly sales data. He further stated that the company has entered the bike segment with the launch of Mahindra Stallio, and the consumers’ response is positive; the firm is working on increasing production in view to meet the growing demands for products.

At present, Mahindra 2 Wheelers has three scooters and a motorcycle, including Mahindra Rodeo, Mahindra Duro, Mahindra Flyte, and Mahindra Stallio. The auto company is also going to launch an entry-level sports motorcycle—the Mahindra Mojo—very soon.

The Mahindra Rodeo with its very innovative, contemporary features is popular amongst the Indian youth, while the Mahindra Duro is positioned as a family scooter. The Flyte is the Indian woman’s two-wheeler of choice. The stylish Stallio creates a niche for itself in the motorcycle category.
